The PCBA Family Law Section will hold its 4-part series beginning on August 21, 2019.  The topic is "child preferences," beginning first with a perspective from mental health professionals.  The remaining segments will be held on September 25 (Attorney Panel), October 30 (Judges Panel) and November 22 (Practicum Module). Learn how child preference evidence is applied in the Courtroom, how mediators and Judges are considering it, and how can you use this valuable knowledge to obtain the best possible outcome for your clients. (Don’t worry we will go over the law as well.)

Another perk of these 4 MCLE’s is they will count for 4 hours towards your training to become minor’s counsel.  DO NOT BE LEFT IN THE DARK - JOIN US!

Part 4, A dynamic practicum module which will display the impact of child preferences in your case.  We are delighted that Prof. John Myers (whose detailed CV is 60 pages long!) will be our Part 4 speaker.  Many of you know him as a family law attorney, professor of law and an expert on child abuse and defender of children and victims of domestic violence, both of physical and emotional injuries.  You don't want to miss this speaker and topic!

This lunch will be held at McCormick & Schmick's located at the Fountains in Roseville (Roseville Parkway and Galleria Blvd.,) starting at 12:00 on November 22, 2019.  Please check in at 11:50 and grab your entree card.  Don't worry if you forget what you ordered, we will have that information on hand.

Space is limited, so reserve your seat.  Cost is $35 pre-pay for PCBA Family Law Section Members by going online.  Cost for Non-PCBA member is $45 and PCBA non-Family Law Section member cost is $40.  Walk-in registration cost, only if space is available, is $45.  Please make your lunch selection at the time of registrationIf payment is not received by November 20, your registration will be dropped.

Come join us at the Red Barn at Newcastle Wedding Gardens on Taylor Road in Newcastle for our Annual Judicial Reception honoring our Placer County Judges and Appellate Judges.  This is a beautiful location, steeped with history of fruit growers in the early 1900's.  There is plenty of parking.  Most importantly, Chef Matt provides exceptional food!

This year we are suggesting a donation of $10 per person at the time of registration to help with the increased costs over the past 5 years in producing this fun Annual Event.

When you map the address of 950 Taylor Road, Newcastle, please note that the actual address of 950 Taylor Road is the Bed & Breakfast.  The Red Barn is just west of the House and is bordered by a red log-like fence.

Dave graduated sixth in his class of more than 350 students at Hastings College of Law and could have practiced in virtually any community, but chose Napa and has never left. During his 45-year career practicing, Dave has become one of California’s most recognized and trusted estate planning lawyers.  Co-founding Gaw Van Male (GVM) in the early 70’s, his practice focused exclusively on the areas of law that are his passion – Estate Planning, Trust Administration and Elder Law. In 2018 he launched Gaw Estate Planning – a boutique law firm dedicated exclusively to estate planning and related areas of the law.

Dave is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law, designated by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.  He is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the State Bar.

He speaks extensively throughout California and the nation on a variety of estate planning and administration topics, and is among the most respected attorneys in his field.  One of the highest achievements for an estate planning lawyer in California is to become a Certified Specialist. From 2007 until 2017, CA State Bar Trusts and Estates Section chose Dave as an instructor preparing attorneys for this specialization exam.
