Aspects of Working with Widows

This program will not only provide an exploration regarding trust distributions, but also discuss how to assist our clients with the interpersonal aspects of trust administration; specifically dealing with the loss of the spouse primarily responsible for keeping an eye on the finances. In addition, this program will discuss the tax implications surrounding trust distributions, both to the trust and the beneficiaries.

Rebecca Van Loon is certified as a Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate. With a practice focusing in the areas of estate planning, trust and probate administration and taxation law, Ms. Van Loon assists families and individuals with all aspects of their estate planning needs, including wills, trusts, advance health care directives and financial powers of attorney. She also assists clients with estate, gift and property tax planning, including charitable gift planning.  Ms. Van Loon’s practice has grown to incorporate international estate planning (inbound/outbound for citizens/residents and non-citizen residents), as well as the representation of individuals, private professional fiduciaries and corporate trustees as fiduciaries through trust and estate administrations.

Kristin Kaminski is a founding member of the Placer Women Lawyers section, is a certified specialist in Probate and Estate Planning and a partner at Maxey Kaminski. She is admitted to practice in the states of California, Nevada and Wisconsin and volunteers time with the Placer County Superior Court's Self-Help Probate Workshop,  She was recently a co-speaker with Ms. Van Loon for the California Lawyers Association on trust distributions.

This lunch will be held via Zoom Video Conference. Registered attendees will be provided with a link to Zoom registration once you have registered for this event and paid your fee online.  You must register on Zoom in order to receive the encrypted link for joining this secured web conference.  The link for registering will be found on your PCBA registration email.  Please be sure to register on Zoom no later than October 12 in order to receive written material.

This video conference will provide one hour MCLE credit or one hour specialty credit.

Cost is $15 for PCBA's PWL and PEP section members and $25 for PCBA non-section members or non PCBA members. Space is limited so be sure to sign-up early.
