TEMPORARY JUDGE AND ATTORNEY MEDIATOR TRAINING
Where: Gibson Courthouse, Dept. 31
Date: November 13, 2026
Time: 2:00 p.m - 4:00 p.m.
The Temporary Judge and Attorney Mediator (TJAM) Subcommittee of the Placer County Bar Association Family Law Section has been hard at work developing a training program to support Placer County’s Mandatory Settlement Conferences (MSCs).
For many years, volunteer Temporary Judges have played an important role in helping parties resolve their family law cases before trial. Placer County also has a unique Observing and Assisting Attorney program, which allows attorneys who are not certified Temporary Judges to work alongside and assist the Temporary Judge during the settlement conference process.
As Placer County continues to grow, so does the need for attorney volunteers. A successful MSC program depends upon having experienced members of our family law legal community willing to give their time to help parties explore resolution, reduce the number of matters proceeding to trial, and support the Court in managing an increasingly busy family law calendar.
This training will address the nuts and bolts of conducting an MSC, managing the settlement conference calendar, working effectively with assisting attorneys and self-represented litigants, settlement techniques, documenting agreements, and other practical issues. Hypothetical cases will also provide an opportunity for hands-on training.
This training is approved for one hour general MCLE credit.
Registration closes November 11, 2026.
