Probate and Estate Planning Updates from the Court
On May 19, 2026, PCBA’s Probate and Estate Planning Section, in conjunction with South Placer Estate Planning Council, will hold an enlightening lunch with Commissioner Jacques and P. Ryan Bowen, Sr. Research Attorney, as speakers.
Some of the topics may include:
1. Do’s and Don’ts of fee petitions; 2. New Petition to determine succession to real property (homes less than $750,000); 3. Best procedural way to handle an adverse probate note prior to hearing; 4. Best procedure for complex probate matters – 17200 Petitions (complex real estate matters, for example, etc.) 5. Multi-state probate matters (assets in California; death in another state), and 6. New case law affecting the types of filing for which the attorney should be aware
Because we expect a large turnout for this luncheon, we are eliciting questions ahead of time from attendees to provide to our speakers. The goal of these questions is two-fold – to guide the speakers on what the attendees want to know and to ensure that no case specific questions are asked at the lunch.
So, sign-up now to reserve your seat as space is limited to 50 attendees. No need to pre-select lunch as it will be a buffet. Be sure to submit your questions no later than May 1st by submitting your questions HERE. Check-in will begin at 11:30 so you have time to sign-in, find a seat and grab your lunch. The presentation will begin promptly at Noon.
Cost is $30 for all PCBA Probate and Estate Planning Section members and South Placer Estate Planning Council members. $35 for all other registrants.
