PCBA Welcomes Deputy District Attorney Curry As Placer County's Newest Judge

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger recently appointed Mark S. Curry as Placer County Superior Court's newest judge.

Mr. Curry, 47, of Loomis, has served as a deputy district attorney for the Sacramento District Attorney's Office since 1986. He is currently a Supervising District Attorney and homicide prosecutor, having handled approximately 60 murder cases, half of them to a jury verdict. In 1999 he was voted Prosecutor of the Year by the Sacramento District Attorney's Office. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from McGeorge School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Sacramento. Mr. Curry is married with two children, and enjoys long distance running, world travel, and photography. A Republican, Mr. Curry is active in the Loomis community.

The Placer County Bar Association congratulates and warmly welcomes Judge Curry to the Placer bench. There will be a public swearing-in ceremony in mid-August, followed by a reception.

2007 Board of Directors, l-r: Past President David Tellman, Treasurer Edward Jones, Director/Website Coordinator Gregory Fayard, President Maureen Ohlsson Rodarte, Executive Director Madonna Anglin, Director/Newsletter Editor Elen Pass Brandt, Vice President Levin, and Secretary Gregory Elvine-Kreis.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I am honored to have been selected as the PCBA President in this, our 40th year after incorporation. Although there are some challenges ahead, it will be a great year. Our finances are in great shape. We have sound reserves and will not have to struggle to maintain programming. Granlibakken is essentially done, with a full panel of committed speakers, thanks to Elen Pass Brandt and Maureen Rodarte. These include California Supreme Court Justice Ming Chin, State Bar President Jeffrey Bleich and DNA expert Bob Blasier, as well as returning favorites, Judge Richard Couzens and Martin Dean, along with Dr. Charles Scott.
If you want to help out with our Law Day events, Celebrity Chefs, the Newsletter, or in some other capacity, please let me know. It would be a great help to the Board.
If you are a member of the public looking for an attorney, please check our membership directory. This website has other useful links to self-help legal resources, contact information and information on resolving disputes you may have with your lawyer.

Sincerely,
Levin
